Hello everyone today we are going to start with a series of "Proof Test" for different makeup foundations. I consider that finding the right foundation is fundamental for a good makeup , and for me it is a big challenge to find a foundation that totally satisfies me . Why? Because the climate here in Texas is CRAZY! In the morning your makeup can look fabulous and by the end of the day you look like a hot mess.
So lets go in this adventure together and find out which foundation scores the highest in this proof tests.
*I always wash my face and apply moisturizer and primer before adding my
foundation . For the purpose of this series I am going to use the same moisturizer, primer, and powder so that the competition is fair for every single foundation.
The first foundation to be tested is maybelline's new baby "Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation." This is the newest addition to their already known "Dream" collection and the price ranges around $8.99-$11.99. Juts by reading the name of this product we can give ourselves an idea of what the claims of this foundation are going to be, but lets take a look. This foundation claims to be a refreshing gel-whipped foundation that leaves complexion perfected and
smooth with a velvety, soft-matte finish while skin stays hydrated for
12 hours.
Combining the words matte and hydrating sounds like an actual dream coming true to many girls. Most matte foundations are dry and most hydrating foundations have a dewy finish so it is pretty interesting to check how this foundation is going to work.
I picked up mine in shade 75.
I started my day at 8:00 A.M and my face looked like this.
As you can see I have some red spots and dark under eye circles to cover.
I did my whole makeup and the results were this.
I was satisfied with the results. It covered most of my red spots and some of the darker ones but , you can still notice a little bit of my dark under eye circles. It is a very smooth to apply foundation and it does feel kind of fresh as you are applying it. It does cover the claim of being matte but, in my opinion it is not a "Hydrating foundation." if it was not because of my moisturizer the foundation would've look kind of dry around my chin area.
So now lets check if it lasts 12-hours as it claims.
I went and did some errands. When I arrived home I did my homework and ate . After that I just waited until it was 8:00 P.M and took a look at the mirror. My makeup by then looked okay but not as good as in the morning. I took some pictures as well but the lighting is not very good.
Even though I did like the foundation at the beginning of the day by the end I was not so sure about that.
My under eye circles were very noticeable and my dark spots were visible. I did not have foundation around the area of my nose. Other than that everything was okay.
In average my foundation looked good for about 5 hours.
I did like how it applied and that it is very light weight.
Pros:
- Very easy to apply.
- Fresh & Lightweight.
- Medium Coverage.
- Price.
Cons:
- Does not last 12-hours. ( As it claims.)
- It is not a hydrating formula.
So my final thought is that I do like this foundation but I have tried better ones. From 1 to 10 I would give this foundation a 6.
